Amblyopia

General description of the disease

Amblyopia (popularly known as “lazy eye») – impairment of visual function, which cannot be corrected with contact lenses or glasses, is mainly of a secondary nature (that is, there are no changes in the structure of the vision analyzer).

Classification of amblyopia and the causes of each of its types:

  • dysbinocular: the reason is strabismus, as a result of which the diseased eye is disconnected from the visual process, and the healthy one takes over the performance of its functions for two;
  • refractory – develops in the presence of astigmatism, myopia or hyperopia;
  • anisometropic – each eye has a different optical power;
  • obscuration – cataracts, thorns, a scar left after an injury, damage to the muscles that are responsible for eye movement, drooping upper eyelid;
  • hysterical – the cause is a strong emotional shock (the only type of amblyopia that can be completely eliminated).

Symptoms of amblyopia

In the early stages of the disease, it is almost impossible to determine the disease and the patient may accidentally notice that his eyes function differently. If a person’s strabismus is pronounced, then he needs to constantly undergo examinations by an ophthalmologist and undergo treatment courses, do not forget about preventive measures. This also applies to people with high rates of hyperopia.

Basically, patients with amblyopia are poorly oriented in space (especially in a new environment), which is why they look very awkward and sloppy.

Patients with amblyopia, while watching TV, while reading, cover their weak eye with their hand. Children – turn their heads when looking at something.

Monotonous, painstaking work is accompanied by severe headaches. This is due to the strong tension of the optic muscles.

Useful foods for amblyopia

The main directions in the cure of the disease are the improvement of visual function and the strengthening of the optic muscles. For this to happen, you need to eat right, focusing on the following foods:

  1. 1 animal origin (fish, lean meat, oysters, eggs, dairy products);
  2. 2 vegetable origin: vegetables (all types of crucifers, sweet peppers, carrots, pumpkin, asparagus beans and all legumes, blue, tomatoes, potatoes), berries and fruits (avocado, mango, kiwi, apricot, persimmons, grapes, melons and watermelons, all citrus fruits, peaches and kiwi, strawberries, blueberries), herbs (spinach, dill, parsley, celery), seeds with nuts, mushrooms, cereals (whole grains), olive and flaxseed oil.

Very useful freshly squeezed juices (especially from carrots, celery, spinach, dill, celery), green tea and various decoctions of medicinal herbs and I am a year old.

Traditional medicine for amblyopia

From the centuries-old experience of traditional healers, the following recipes have been preserved and passed on:

  • Drink as tea decoctions of blueberries, currants (red and black), wild strawberries and strawberries, dioecious nettle leaves.
  • Tincture of medicinal rosemary. Take 50 grams of rosemary, soak it in half a liter of white wine (you need to insist for 2 days in a dark, without high humidity, place). At the end of the time – filter. Drink this tincture before meals (20 minutes). Dosage – 1 tbsp. spoon at a time.
  • Put 200 grams of parsley on 30 milliliters of water. Bring to a boil, hold for 2 minutes, drain. Drink cold once a day. Choose when it is more convenient: in the evening or in the morning.
  • Take 10-15 grams of mint (cat), sweet clover, eyebright, lemon balm, valerian (root), blackberry, walnut leaves. Mix and place in a saucepan with 500 ml of hot water, cook for 15 minutes. Consume 100 milliliters before meals.
  • Take a teaspoon of eyebright and hernia. Pour boiled hot water over. Leave to infuse for 2 hours. Drink a third of a glass 15-20 minutes before meals.
  • Many vitamins that are good for the eyes in young nettles. It is recommended to eat salad from it.
  • Honey mask. Apply a layer of honey on the eyelids overnight. Rinse off in the morning.
  • It is useful to make lotions and compresses from eyebright, cornflower, chamomile.
  • It is necessary to relieve tension with massage. To do this, you need to close your eyes and massage the eyeballs with your fingertips in a circular motion. Clockwise and counterclockwise.
  • Physiotherapy. Even the lightest and most primitive exercises will do. After all, the main thing is regularity. You can just blink your eyes quickly, move them left and right, down and up, draw a circle.
  • For the treatment of amblyopia, it is necessary to close the healthy eye and load the patient. For example, embroidery, knitting, beading. Then the weak muscle is strengthened and vision is gradually leveled. The therapy should be carried out within 3-4 months.

You can not give prolonged and exorbitant eye strain. Take breaks every 30 minutes from reading, writing, or working on the computer. While relaxing, you can do eye gymnastics, massage, or, simply, look out the window.
