6 Signs You’re Doing Your Best for Yourself

Do you feel like a failure from time to time? Scolding yourself that you are “not trying hard enough” and “could do better”? Stop! You may be handling things better than you think. Or at least do the best you can.

Try answering the question «How satisfied are you with your standard of living on a scale of 1 to 10?». 1 means that you are completely unhappy, and 10 that you adore your life. Do not be surprised if you name a number in the range from 3 to 7 — this is how most people evaluate their lives.

The fact is that we do not do enough — both for others and for ourselves. More precisely, it seems to us so — that as soon as we “try better”, absolutely everything in our life will work out. Alas, this is not always the case. Sometimes things just don’t work out in our favor. It doesn’t matter what stripe in life is now — black or white. The main thing is how we live these days.

Maybe you’re doing great, even if you don’t think so. Let’s see how you can understand it.

1. You are working on yourself

This point is the first because it is the most important. Moreover, work on oneself can be diverse. For some, this is getting rid of bad habits like smoking, overeating, alcohol abuse, excessive video game addiction and shopaholism. For another, it is trying to become emotionally open or better in control of their behavior. The latter helps us to stay in tune with ourselves and with others.

2. You respect your body

You are not one of those who during the day — the slave of the office chair, and in the evening — the slave of the sofa. Even if, due to work duties, you have to spend a lot of time in a sitting position, in the morning or in the evening you try to give your body the necessary physical activity. And don’t feed him junk food.

You understand that taking care of your body will ensure you a long active life, and therefore you do everything you can: try to eat right and move, provide yourself with enough sleep and rest.

3. You are trying to change circumstances.

Yes, you accept your life as it is right now, especially those aspects of it that cannot be changed overnight. But do not leave attempts to somehow transform it. You methodically and diligently invest in making these changes finally happen, and if something goes wrong, do not give up. On the contrary, you are actively looking for ways to replenish resources in order to continue moving towards your goal.

4. You have compassion for yourself.

You worry about others and are always ready to support them, but not to the detriment of your interests, and even more so your health. You know that compassion and empathy must begin with yourself, so spend time and effort taking care of your condition — physical and psychological. This allows you to stay in good shape, which means you can do more for other people and the world in general.

5. You accept your «light insanity»

So, do not be afraid to seem «strange» to others when you have fun and fool around. Judgment from other people doesn’t scare you, so you don’t shy away from off-the-beaten, unpopular roads. And rightly so: your features make you who you are. Make you an individual.

6. You remain human

You do not break the law and do not lash out at others with fists or selective abuse, even if they deserve it. Do not act meanly and do not win back on others. And relatives do not have to endure your «bad character.» Of course, none of us is perfect, but you try to control yourself. If a breakdown does occur, then apologize for it.

When you do something, you think about the consequences for yourself and others. And if there is an opportunity to make the world a better place, do not miss it.
