What happens to a woman’s body in the 25th week of pregnancy

It is useful for a pregnant woman to move, perform simple physical exercises, if the doctor does not forbid her to do so. But you should avoid heavy exertion, training that develops agility, or sports competitions. You can swim in the pool, do asanas – yoga exercises, walk in the fresh air. This will help keep your muscles toned and feel good.

At the 25th week of pregnancy, it is useful to do medical gymnastics.

But you can’t go to the other extreme and get too carried away with work. A pregnant woman needs good rest and an abundance of positive emotions. The support of relatives will be very useful.

About 50% of expectant mothers suffer from painful symptoms caused by hemorrhoids. It is not hazardous to health, but very unpleasant. The enlarged uterus compresses the veins, causing impaired blood flow, making it difficult for the natural emptying of the intestines. It is useful for a pregnant woman to know about the prevention of hemorrhoids:

  • it is important to monitor your diet, eat more foods rich in plant fiber – various cereals, vegetable and fruit salads are useful;
  • exercise also helps to improve bowel motility;
  • in case of constipation, it is advisable not to start the process, but immediately use candles with glycerin or other emollients.

If hemorrhoids do appear, you need to consult a doctor.

At the 25-26th week, the woman’s mammary glands begin to enlarge, colostrum appears. You can start preparing for breastfeeding your baby – wash your breasts with cool water and wipe with a coarse towel. But too much irritation of the breast is contraindicated, this can lead to a reflex contraction of the uterus.

A visit to the doctor is not necessary at week 25. A woman can come for an extraordinary consultation if something bothers her – insomnia, swelling, back or abdominal pain, headaches, changes in the nature of vaginal discharge or lack of fetal movement.

Before the appointment with the doctor, you will need to pass, as always, a blood and urine test. If some more examinations are needed, the doctor will prescribe them based on the well-being of the expectant mother.

The second scheduled ultrasound scan is performed from the 20th to the 24th week. Until the 26th week, the attending physician determines how the woman’s further pregnancy will go – whether there is a risk of developing preeclampsia, fetal growth retardation and placental insufficiency.

The weight of the fetus at this time is about 700 g. His brain is improving, the hormonal background is changing, the adrenal glands begin to produce glucocorticoids.

What should pay attention to?

At the end of the second trimester, some sleep-related features appear. If at the beginning of pregnancy I wanted to sleep very often, now the woman feels vigorous. Sometimes she has difficulty falling asleep at night or wakes up frequently. Poor sleep can be caused by leg cramps, baby movement, or heartburn.

To make the rest complete, it is advisable to eat a few hours before bedtime. If it is difficult to fall asleep without having dinner, you can drink a glass of kefir or yogurt at night. From the evening meal, you need to exclude foods rich in fiber – cabbage, peas, beans, etc.

With heartburn, you need to sleep on a high pillow so that the contents of the stomach do not enter the esophagus and do not irritate it. It is good to fall asleep at the same time, this habit will speed up sleep and make it easier.
